Taylor Athletes
Taylor athletes | Tailored Athlete earn recognition collectively and individually for their well-rounded excellence on the field or court and in the classroom. This includes NAIA and Capital One All-American awards, as well as Crossroads League Players-of-the-Year and CoSIDA Academic All-American designations for their hard work in the classroom.
Taylor’s varsity sports teams are made up of men and women who participate in 16 intercollegiate varsity sports. They compete in the Crossroads League, which is a member of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

The college’s sports medicine department has a full-time board-certified, licensed athletic trainer who supervises all athletic training practices and operates physician clinic visits on campus. He has worked with a variety of high school and collegiate teams, including MIT Women’s Soccer and Baseball, Boston University Men’s Rugby and club sports and Northwestern Men’s and Women’s Soccer.
Athletes are required to complete physical forms prior to participating in a contest, and may be suspended or removed from a practice for a violation of the university’s sports rules. Athletes are also expected to pay for any equipment that is lost or damaged during a practice session, and may not compete in any games during a suspension or removal from practices.
Steroid use and the Taylor Hooton tragedy
Don and Gwen Hooton, who have been working to educate high school administrators, coaches and parents about the dangers of steroids since Taylor died last year, said that they were not initially suspicious of their son’s steroid use. But when his body began to change, they noticed that he was growing larger, and that he had more aggressive behavior, which they said is often the first sign of steroid abuse.
